Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit (vitae spiritualis ianua), and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: "Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word." (CCC 1213)

Godparents for the Baptism

Normally each child/adult baptized has one godmother and one godfather.  In order to present the child/person on the day of Baptism,  the godparent must be in full communion with the Catholic Church and should be a regular weekly participant in the sacramental life of the Church (a Catholic in good standing).  Each will be asked to fill out a sponsor form and have it signed by their local parish priest as well as a godparent form which much be sent in advance to St. Luke's Church, 108 Washington Road, Barrington, RI 02806.
