Confirmation

Confirmation completes the grace of Baptism and seals us with the gifts of the Holy Spirit. As the Catechism reminds us, “by the sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are more perfectly bound to the Church and enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit… to spread and defend the faith by word and deed” (CCC 1285).

Through this sacrament, we receive the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit—wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord—which strengthen us to live as mature disciples of Christ. Together with Baptism and the Eucharist, Confirmation completes our initiation into the Church and calls us to be witnesses of the Gospel in the world.
