THE LEAGUE 

The St. Luke's Men's Golf League is a friendly, informal group of senior golfers. The league meets on Tuesday mornings, during the season (April to November) at Pine Valley Country Club in Rehoboth MA as well as on Thursday mornings at various courses in both Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts. The league was started in the late 1980's at St. Luke's parish in Barrington. Today, membership is open to any parishioner or friend sponsored by a parishioner. Guests are welcome, but if anyone plays regularly with the league, they are expected to join the league. Dues are $85 per year (payable by June 1) which covers a banquet, prizes for the year-end tournament and other events as finances permit. Members pay for their own green fees and (optional) carts. 

COMPETITIONS 

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, there are optional competitions. All of the money collected on any given day will be awarded that day and no player may receive more than two awards. Members in the prize pool must play to the PGA rules with the exceptions listed on the webpage. If a member is not playing for prizes, he does not have to follow the rules unless it interferes with the other golfers play. Members will turn in their scorecard at the end of each round and handicaps will be developed, maintained and posted on the website. New players will get a handicap after 3 rounds. Weekly results are posted on the website. 

TUESDAYS 

Tuesday's play is held at Pine Valley Country Club in Rehoboth. Sessions begin at various times during the year. Foursomes are made up on site, just prior to play. In order to be included, players must arrive prior to the designated cut-off time listed on the website. Upon arrival, each member will place his name tag in "the box" to identify his plans - 9 or 18 holes and walking or riding. Foursomes will be assigned accordingly, with the intent of getting different partners each week. Players who have not arrived by the cut off time will be responsible to find a group to play with, if there are any openings. The optional entry fee to participate in the following competitions is $3. 

Individual Low Net: Open to players playing either nine or eighteen holes. The low net is determined by deducting the individual’s handicap from the score turned in. Players choosing to play only nine holes will be given a score on the second nine that is 5% higher than their actual score on the first nine. Score for handicap purposes is the nine hole score. 

Closest to the Pin: (par three holes) Winners are determined by the individual whose ball is closest to the hole on his second shot. Players with handicaps of 20 or below must hit from the blue tees.
