Intercessory Prayer Group
Prayer is answered!
To Jesus through Mary
“Have faith in God ... Therefore I tell you, all that you ask for in prayer, believe that you will receive it and it shall be yours.” Mark 11:22, 24
There you have it -- from Jesus Himself -- the power of prayer!
We all have personal intentions needing prayer. Our parish, the Catholic Church, the United States, and the world are likewise in need of regular prayer. Can you spare just a few minutes a day to ensure these intentions are offered up to the Lord?
St. Luke’s Parish Intercessory Prayer Group is focused on interceding to Jesus through Mary on behalf of the intentions of our fellow parishioners by employing the power of group prayer.

Our Approach to Intercessory Prayer
Our approach is simple. In the main entrance of the church, the prayer group provides a notebook for people to write down their personal prayer intentions. Each week, the group leader collects the latest intentions and sends them to the prayer group members via email to help focus our prayers. Members then recite a daily prayer asking the Blessed Virgin Mary to present our petitions to the Lord. Even if you are not fully aware of the intentions recorded (e.g., only the first initial of names are used in the email, for privacy purposes), God knows these intentions and all you have to do is acknowledge to Him that you are praying for them.
Depending on your life style, the form of your prayer can vary, including a rosary, a short intercessory prayer in your own words, or if you prefer, the following modified version of a prayer by St. Padre Pio who said that prayer is the best weapon we have:
Prayer by St. Padre Pio
O my Jesus, you have said: “Truly I say to you, ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you.” Behold, I ask that you pour your graces upon St. Luke’s Parish, the Catholic Church, and the United States. I also lift up the intentions submitted to the St. Luke’s Parish Intercessory Prayer Group. Pour your graces upon those who submitted the intentions, those who are praying for the intentions, and those for whom the prayers are being offered.
Recite Prayers: Our Father. . .Hail Mary. . .Glory be
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.
O compassionate sacred heart of Jesus, have mercy on us, and grant our pray through the sorrowful and immaculate heart of Mary, Your tender mother and ours.
Recite Prayer: Hail Holy Queen prayer
Conclude with:
St. Joseph, foster father of Jesus, pray for us. St. Luke, pray for us.
