Understanding Eucharistic Adoration

Question 2: What is Eucharistic Adoration?

  •  “Adoration is the first attitude of man acknowledging that he is a creature before his Creator … Adoration is homage of the spirit to the “King of Glory,” respectful silence in the presence of the “ever greater” God.” ccc 2628
  • Eucharistic Adoration is an extension of the Mass, the supreme act of worship of Jesus Christ truly present in the Eucharist. During the hours of Adoration, the Eucharistic Host is displayed in a monstrance on the altar so that all can see and pray in the presence of Christ.
  • Eucharistic Adoration is your personal, contemplative time for silent adoration in the Real Presence of Our Lord who “remains mysteriously in our midst as the one who loved us and gave himself up for us.” ccc 1380
  • “The Church and the world have a great need for Eucharistic worship. Jesus awaits us in this sacrament of love. Let us not refuse the time to go to meet him in adoration, in contemplation full of faith, and open to making amends for the serious offenses and crimes of the world. Let our adoration never cease.” John Paul II, Dominicae cenae, 3
